After spending three years in entrepreneurship, overseeing a program funded by the Goldman Sachs Foundation to teach business building to young adults, I made a leap of faith into advertising to creatively apply a love of research & trends that took root when I studied economics at The University of Chicago. Spent a year at advertising giant Ogilvy & Mather completing a highly selective rotational program, spending months at a time in planning, account management, and digital. Ultimately learned how to sell, or else.
Understanding our connection to digital
Recognized a micro trend of clients investing in digital channels and consumers spending more time in social media creating & consuming content. Turned out to become a macro trend. Score. Moved from Ogilvy & Mather to digital agency Organic to fully immerse in the future of communications, engagement and content. Concurrently finished graduate school at Columbia University, which propelled me into the world of relationship building – content, public relations, and story-telling.
Focusing on the human element
Since 2010, have focused on combining the science of trend-hunting with the art of story-telling. Through freelance and full-time work, have worked within strategy & planning to use empathy-based insights to lead creative teams towards big ideas and account teams through flawless execution, winning a dozen awards in the process. Along the way, having fun and learning how to connect with people: to convince them and compel them to change an attitude or behavior, share content, laugh, cry, shop, and more. Became a teaching assistant at Columbia University in two graduate programs, dropping knowledge bombs and sharing best practices to the next wave of marketers.
